For actors pursuing mastery of their craft, Foundations of Acting from SRS Performing Arts is the most direct path.

This is the only training of its kind in the state of Utah.

Overview:

This film acting program has been developed to fast-track actors and build a strong foundation to stand on so you can get into the industry without the pitfalls others fall into.

Over 12 months, you'll work with our team of instructors and coaches in twice-weekly classes, workshops, and even monthly private instruction to ensure you improve every day.

Foundations I is for Beginning and Intermediate actors or Advanced actors who are looking to brush up on their craft and have a reset. In this course you will have one year of Foundations coupled with Improv.

Foundations II is for Beginning and Intermediate actors or Advanced actors who are looking to brush up on their craft and have a reset. In this course you will have one year of Foundations coupled with 8 months of Improv and the last 4 months you will move to Audition techniques on Tuesdays.

For Intermediate and Advanced actors - If you ever feel you need anything different we can adjust your schedule to best fit your current goals and needs.

How It Works:

Registering in Foundations enrolls you in two classes per week: Foundation Skills, and Improv. That is 4+ hours per week of training to help you progress quickly and get you moving toward your goals.

In this program, you will learn step-by-step how to become an actor and increase your acting skills with new techniques on how to connect authentically to a character. You will gain the tools you need to start auditioning and enter the film industry.

Some of the topics we'll be covering in your year-long membership include:

  • Making a personal connection to a character
  • Sifting through self to find your strengths
  • Monologues
  • Screenplays
  • Script Structure
  • Building Character
  • Vulnerability as an Actor
  • Two person scenes
  • How to work with a Scene Partner
  • Breaking down a scene and script
  • Audition Techniques
  • How to book a role
  • Working in front of the Camera
  • Stage Presence
  • Business of the Business
  • Business Tools for Actors
  • Getting an Agent
  • Actors Showcase Performance
  • Grounding self through self-discovery and with the book "The Artist Way"

We coach from a very positive perspective. We focus on the self first. Finding yourself is key to becoming present in the moment as an actor. A centered and happy actor who is fulfilled in life is far better than a broken actor. We love to find the gold that exists inside each artist and help to bring out their true self and abilities through a positive approach.

We don't use any one type of acting training but we incorporate all the styles from the greats, Stella Adler, Stanford Meisner, etc. We find what skill set will work best for each actor and develop your unique style and approach to connecting authentically and emotionally to a character so you can live truthfully in the moment.

"It's hard to find a professional acting community outside of LA, and Sue Rowe at SRS Performing Arts Academy has created a beautiful, safe space for actors to learn, grow, and be in community. I first started attending classes as a former actor-turned-director and fell in love with acting all over again. I highly recommend SRS Foundation Of Acting classes for all experience levels."
